How to use
- 1Green: type the known letters in place, with _ for unknowns (e.g. cr_ne).
- 2Yellow: letter plus position it's NOT in (e.g. a2 e5). Grey: letters not in the word.
How it's calculated
Candidates are 5-letter words matching every green letter, containing every yellow letter but not at the marked position, and containing no grey letters. They're ranked by how common their letters are among the remaining candidates.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the official Wordle answer list?
No — it uses a large English word list, so it includes valid guesses that aren't answers. Common words near the top are usually better bets.
What if a letter is both yellow and grey?
That happens with repeated letters. Leave the letter out of the grey list if it's also green or yellow.
What's a good first guess?
Words with common, distinct letters — like CRANE, SLATE or TRACE — eliminate the most possibilities.
