How it's calculated
Weekly/biweekly: add 7 or 14 days repeatedly. Semimonthly: the 15th and the last day of each month. Monthly: the same day each month (or the last day).
Frequently asked questions
Why do some months have three paychecks?
With 26 biweekly paydays and 12 months, two months each year (occasionally three) get a third paycheck.
What about pay dates on weekends or holidays?
Employers usually pay on the previous business day. Tick the option to move weekend paydays to Friday; holidays aren't adjusted.
How many biweekly paydays are in a year?
Usually 26, sometimes 27 when the calendar lines up.
