How it's calculated
HEX is RGB in base 16. HSL/HSV are cylindrical transforms of RGB. CMYK here is the simple device-independent conversion (K = 1 − max(R,G,B)); print shops use ICC profiles for exact results.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between HSL and HSV?
Both describe hue and saturation. HSL's lightness runs from black through the pure color to white; HSV's value runs from black to the pure color.
Why doesn't my CMYK print match the screen?
Screens emit light (RGB) and printers use ink (CMYK) with a smaller range of colors. Exact matching needs the printer's color profile.
Can I use 8-digit HEX?
Yes — #RRGGBBAA includes alpha (transparency) and works in all modern browsers.
