CAGR Calculator
Calculate the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) between a starting and ending value — or project a future value from a growth rate.
For information and education only — not financial advice. Results are estimates based on the numbers you enter; check important decisions with a qualified professional.
How to use
- 1Enter the starting value, ending value and number of years.
- 2Or switch to 'future value' to project growth at a given rate.
How it's calculated
CAGR = (end ÷ start)^(1 ÷ years) − 1. Future value = start × (1 + rate)^years.
Frequently asked questions
What does CAGR tell me?
The steady yearly growth rate that would take the start value to the end value — smoothing out ups and downs.
Is CAGR the same as average return?
No. A +50% year followed by −50% has an average of 0% but a CAGR of about −13%, because losses compound too.
Can I use months?
Yes — enter the period in years with decimals, e.g. 18 months = 1.5 years.
