Frequently asked questions

What are base fee and priority fee?

Since EIP-1559, each block has a base fee (burned) that rises and falls with demand, plus an optional tip to validators (priority fee) to get included faster. Total = gas used × (base fee + tip).

Why are layer-2 fees lower?

Rollups like Arbitrum, Optimism and Base batch many transactions and post them to Ethereum together, so each user pays a fraction of a mainnet fee.

How accurate is this?

It uses the latest block's base fee and recent tips from a public Ethereum node. Gas used varies by contract — swaps in particular can cost more than the typical figure shown.
