How it's calculated
Mayan method: add the mother's age at conception to the year of conception. Even = girl, odd = boy. Folklore methods are right about half the time — the same as a coin toss.

Is this accurate?
No — it's folklore for fun. Worldwide, about 51% of babies are born male and 49% female regardless of any calendar.
When can I find out for sure?
Cell-free DNA blood tests (NIPT) can detect sex from about 10 weeks; an ultrasound anatomy scan usually shows it at 18–22 weeks.
Can diet or timing change the odds?
There's no reliable evidence that diet, positions or timing methods change a baby's sex.
