Child Adult Height Predictor
Estimate a child's adult height from the parents' heights with the mid-parental height method, including the typical range.
For general information only — not medical advice. Results are estimates; talk to a doctor or qualified health professional about your own health.
How to use
- 1Enter the mother's and father's heights.
- 2Choose the child's sex to see the predicted adult height and range.
How it's calculated
Boys: (mother + father + 13 cm) ÷ 2. Girls: (mother + father − 13 cm) ÷ 2. About 95% of children end up within ±8.5 cm (≈3.3 in) of this target.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is the prediction?
It's a rough target. Nutrition, health and timing of puberty also matter. Methods using the child's current height and bone age are more precise.
Can a child be taller than both parents?
Yes — especially boys with tall mothers, or children with better nutrition than their parents had.
When should I worry about growth?
If a child drops across growth-chart percentile lines, talk to a pediatrician.
