Horsepower, Torque, Displacement & 0–60 Calculator
Convert torque and RPM to horsepower, calculate engine displacement from bore and stroke, and estimate 0–60 mph and quarter-mile times from power and weight.
How to use
- 1Enter torque and RPM for horsepower; bore, stroke and cylinders for displacement.
- 2Enter power and vehicle weight for performance estimates.
How it's calculated
HP = torque (lb·ft) × RPM ÷ 5,252. Displacement = π ÷ 4 × bore² × stroke × cylinders. Quarter mile (Hale): ET ≈ 5.825 × (weight ÷ hp)^⅓ s; trap ≈ 234 × (hp ÷ weight)^⅓ mph.
Frequently asked questions
Why do horsepower and torque cross at 5,252 rpm?
Because HP = torque × RPM ÷ 5,252, the two are numerically equal at exactly 5,252 rpm (in lb·ft and hp).
How accurate are the 0–60 estimates?
Rough — traction, gearing, launch control and drivetrain losses matter a lot. Use them to compare, not predict.
Crank or wheel horsepower?
Manufacturers quote crank (engine) power; wheel power is typically 10–20% lower after drivetrain losses.
