Baking Pan Size Converter
Adapt a recipe to a different pan size — round, square or rectangular — with the scaling factor for ingredients and tips for baking time.
How to use
- 1Enter the original pan and the pan you'll use (inches).
- 2Multiply ingredients by the factor; keep the depth similar and adjust baking time.
How it's calculated
Round area = π × (diameter ÷ 2)²; square/rectangle = length × width. Scale factor = new area ÷ original area.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to change the baking time?
If the batter depth stays about the same, time changes little. Shallower batter bakes faster; deeper batter takes longer — test with a skewer.
Can I bake a 9 × 13 recipe in two 8-inch rounds?
Yes — two 8 in rounds (≈ 100 in²) hold about the same as one 9 × 13 in pan (117 in²) minus a little.
What about the temperature?
Keep it the same in most cases. For much deeper pans, lower it by about 25 °F and bake longer.
