Frequently asked questions
What is a MET?
A metabolic equivalent — the energy used at rest. Running at 6 mph is about 9.8 METs, nearly ten times resting energy use.
Are fitness tracker numbers more accurate?
Trackers use heart rate, which helps, but they can still be off by 20% or more. Both are estimates.
Should I eat back the calories I burn?
Estimates tend to be high, so if you're trying to lose weight, many people eat back only part of them.
