Waist-to-Hip & Waist-to-Height Ratio Calculator
Calculate your waist-to-hip and waist-to-height ratios — simple measures of abdominal fat linked to heart and metabolic health risk.
For general information only — not medical advice. Results are estimates; talk to a doctor or qualified health professional about your own health.
How to use
- 1Measure your waist at the narrowest point (or at the navel) and your hips at the widest point.
- 2Enter them with your height in the same units.
How it's calculated
Waist-to-hip = waist ÷ hip; WHO flags above 0.90 (men) or 0.85 (women). Waist-to-height = waist ÷ height; above 0.5 suggests increased risk (NICE guidance).

Which ratio is better?
Waist-to-height is simple and works across sexes and ethnicities: keep your waist to less than half your height.
How should I measure?
Stand relaxed, breathe out normally and measure without pulling the tape tight.
