For each inch over 5 ft — Devine: men 50 kg + 2.3 kg, women 45.5 + 2.3. Robinson: 52 + 1.9 / 49 + 1.7. Miller: 56.2 + 1.41 / 53.1 + 1.36. Hamwi: 48 + 2.7 / 45.5 + 2.2.

Why are there several formulas?
They were developed for different purposes — Devine for medication dosing, for example. None accounts for muscle or frame size, so treat them as rough guides.
Which result should I use?
The healthy BMI range is the most widely used guideline; the formulas give points inside or near it.
Do these work for short people?
They're designed for heights of 5 ft (152 cm) and over and become unreliable below that.
