Ergonomic Desk & Chair Height Calculator
Find the right desk, chair, standing-desk and monitor height for your body — for a comfortable, healthier home office setup.
How to use
- 1Enter your height (and shoe allowance if you wear shoes at your desk).
- 2Set your chair first, then your desk, then your monitor.
How it's calculated
Based on average body proportions: seat height ≈ 25% of height, seated desk (elbow) height ≈ 41%, standing desk ≈ 61%, and the top of the screen near eye level (≈ 69% seated). Take a short break every 30–60 minutes.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know my desk is at the right height?
Sit with shoulders relaxed and elbows bent about 90°; your forearms should rest level on the desk with wrists straight.
How high should my monitor be?
The top of the screen at or slightly below eye level, about an arm's length (50–75 cm) away. Laptop users need a stand and separate keyboard.
How long should I stand at a standing desk?
Alternate: many ergonomists suggest changing position every 30–60 minutes rather than standing all day.
