How it's calculated
GPA = Σ(grade points × credits) ÷ Σ credits, using A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0 … F = 0 (the common US scale).
Frequently asked questions
Does my school use the same grade points?
Most US schools use this scale, but some give A+ a 4.3 or have no minus grades. You can type numeric grade points instead of letters to match your school.
How is cumulative GPA calculated?
Your previous GPA is weighted by the credits you'd already earned, then combined with this semester's grade points.
Are pass/fail courses included?
Usually not — leave them out, since they don't carry grade points at most schools.
