Frequently asked questions
Is SEPA Instant available everywhere?
Since 9 October 2025 all euro-area payment providers must be able to send and receive instant euro transfers, and they can't charge more for them than for standard transfers. Non-euro EU countries follow by July 2027.
What is Verification of Payee?
Since October 2025, before you confirm a euro transfer your bank checks whether the name you entered matches the account holder of the IBAN and warns you if it doesn't — protecting against fraud and typos.
Which countries are in SEPA?
The 27 EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, the UK, Monaco, San Marino, Andorra and Vatican City/Holy See — 36 countries, plus newer members such as Albania, Moldova, Montenegro and North Macedonia.
