Frequently asked questions
What is the UK statutory holiday entitlement?
5.6 weeks a year — 28 days for someone working 5 days a week (bank holidays can be included). It's capped at 28 days even if you work 6 days.
What about zero-hours or irregular hours?
In the UK, from April 2024 holiday for irregular-hours workers accrues at 12.07% of hours worked in each pay period.
Does the EU minimum apply everywhere in Europe?
It's the minimum (4 weeks). Many countries give more — e.g. 5 weeks in France and Sweden — and collective agreements often add extra days.
