Estimates only — not tax advice. Tax rules change and depend on your situation; check with the tax authority or a tax professional.

How to use

  1. 1Enter your annual salary and where you live.
  2. 2Add your pension contribution and any student loans.
  3. 3See your take-home pay per year, month and week.

How it's calculated

Net pay = salary − income tax − employee NI (8% from £12,570 to £50,270, 2% above) − pension − student loan (9% above your plan threshold; 6% above £21,000 for postgraduate).

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between salary sacrifice and net pay pensions?

Both take the contribution before income tax. Salary sacrifice also reduces the pay that National Insurance and student loans are calculated on, so it saves more.

What is the student loan threshold for 2026/27?

Plan 1 £26,900, Plan 2 £29,385, Plan 4 £33,795, Plan 5 £25,000, and £21,000 for postgraduate loans.

Is this exactly what my payslip will show?

Close to it. Payroll works per pay period with your tax code, so single months can differ slightly (for example with a bonus), but the year total should match.
